It's Dog Or Nothing - Living Large. Living Fluffy.
I’m a serious slacker when it comes to brushing the fluffies’ teeth. I know how important oral health is and that most dogs have significant tartar build up by the age of three. I’m still working on making brushing a part of our daily routine.
As I strive toward my goal of daily brushings, I need something to help me fill the gaps. I try to constantly switch up the fluffies’ evening chews. Variety is the spice of life, right? Recently, we were given the opportunity to try two kinds of dental chews from the PetSafe indigo line: Fresh Dental Sticks and Fresh Floss Bones.
Both chews are made in the USA and wheat, corn, soy, and artifical ingredient free. I love each chew for different reasons.
The Fresh Dental Sticks have a lovely, minty smell, which I really appreciate this time of year. Freezing weather harbors the fluffies favorite toy: poopsicles. Although they don’t eat them, their breath smells from all the fun. I clean the yard so often, but the snow helps them hide their toys.
Anyway. Back to the chews. The Fresh Dental Sticks don’t last very long for my strong chewers, but the minty breath is completely worth it.
My favorite of the two are the Fresh Floss Bones. These don’t have the minty smell, but boy do they last a long time! Atka is allergic to one of the ingredients in these chews, so I decided to use this as a test. I gave Mauja a Fresh Floss Bone and gave Atka a long-lasting chew from another brand.
Atka took about 1/4 of the amount of time it took Mauja to eat hers, and she’s usually the fast treat eater!Mauja absolutely loves these treats and gets extremely excited when she sees me grabbing the bag. I love that these give me a little peace of mind between brushings. Plus, it’s something to keep them occupied. What more could I want?
Do you give your dogs a dental chew or are you consisten with their brushings?
