It's Dog Or Nothing - Living Large. Living Fluffy.
At about 4 pm last Friday, I decided that we would take a spontaneous trip to Portland after work. Work ended at 4:30.
Nick was quite surprised when I called him, but being a go-with-the-flow kind of guy, he packed up the car so we could hit the road.
10 hours later, we arrived in Portland. What was the reason for this spontaneous trip?
Honestly, the Portland Pet Expo. Montana just doesn’t get the pet events that other areas of the US get to experience. I’ve been so jealous of all the events I haven’t been able to attend, so I was determined to get to one. I really didn’t care about the details of the event, I just wanted to be a part of it. I figured, if it’s a bust, at least we’ll get to explore Portland.
I am so glad we went.
When we went looking for breakfast on Saturday morning, I was in search of a place that we could eat outside with the dogs. I could not believe it when I found a restaurant that not only allowed dogs, but they even had a doggie menu! When we put our name on the wait list, they asked how many people and how many dogs would be dining. Even better? The food was phenomenal.
After we all ate breakfast, we headed to the pet expo. I had no idea what to expect. Mostly, I was worried how Mauja would do in such a busy environment. Sometimes her anxiety gets the best of her.
The fluffies were so incredibly well-behaved. I was so proud! They were great representations of the breed as we met with brands and other dog lovers.
We couldn’t walk more than a few steps without someone wanting to pet them. They were soaking it up
As we were getting ready to leave, I noticed a girl walking toward our car. Turns out it was April from Tenacious Little Terrier! This just made the trip for me. I haven’t been able to meet another blogger and the moment was finally here! We made plans to get lunch the next day.
Later, I was catching up on social media when I saw a comment from Lauren at ZoePhee. She was in Portland too! I was so excited for her to join in on the blogger lunch.
We spent the rest of the day walking through Portland with the fluffies. They were show stoppers everywhere we went. Good thing I love talking about them
On Sunday, we hit up the food trucks for our blogger lunch. 5 people, 5 dogs, and a whole lot of stares. I’m SO happy I was able to have this experience and I can’t wait to meet more people!
Unfortunately, we couldn’t hang out for long because we had to hit the road back to Montana. On our way to lunch, I had seen a cute little pet store that I just had to go into. I was BLOWN AWAY by all the brands they had in their store. We only have a Petco in our town, so places like this are a true gem. We found a whole bunch of tasty snacks from our pals over at Jones Natural Chews! I had to keep moving the fluffy snouts out of the treat jars
I grabbed a few bags of treats and toys that I couldn’t wait to try out and share with everyone. Unfortunately, Nick left the bag of all our purchased goodies sitting on the ground outside our car. I’m sure someone was very happy with that find. He did the same thing with a few bottles of wine during our last trip. I need to keep a better eye on him!
After a 10 hour drive back, we were all exhausted. Sleep was of utmost importance to all of us. So thankful we had the opportunity to make the trip and meet new friends. Hopefully we can do more traveling soon and make even more friends!
