It's Dog Or Nothing - fur, slobber, and dirty floors
Dog food.
Natural, organic, grain free, raw, freeze dried…
Is there anything more confusing?
I prefer to make sure Mauja and Atka aren’t limited to one type of food. Mauja tends to get bored pretty easily and I don’t blame her.
Why would she want to eat the same food day in and day out? It’s my goal to ensure that the pups get plenty of healthy variety, but I definitely have my favorites for them.My current favorite?
pawTree.

The concept behind pawTree is simply genius. Do all dogs have the same nutritional needs? No. Even my two of the same breed (and similar age) have extremely different needs.
When I was given the opportunity to try pawTree, I immediately knew that I wanted to try it out for Mauja. She is the picky one, the one with the sensitive tummy, and the one that needs to gain a bit of weight. I headed over to fill out the ‘pet profile’ for Mauja.
This pet profile is no joke, guys. It asks the obvious necessities: breed, age, weight, and gender. The options get more complex as it asks you to select your dog’s allergens (or simply foods you would like to avoid) and any issues your dog might have (tarter, tummy issues, dry skin, etc.).

I entered all of the information for Mauja and it sent me to a page with her recommended food, treats, and other supplements. I immediately read through the ingredient list in the food and was very pleased.
There are several ingredients I make sure to avoid and none of them were included in this formula. The formulas are all developed by veterinarians to ensure that your dog is getting adequate nutrients. The food is made in the USA, includes real meat as the first ingredient, and is free of by-products, artificial anything, corn, wheat, and soy.
I haven’t even told you the best part about this food!
Remember how I said that the food is completely customized for you dog? I wasn’t lying.
I’m a sucker for packaging. The packaging doesn’t sell it for me, but it is icing on the cake. Look how adorable the label is on the bag! I was able to upload my own picture of Mauja and decide on a name for her food. Honestly, this is my favorite part!
Now, I don’t think it is possible for any food to be ‘pyrfect’, but this one is pretty close. There are two downsides:
- The Price – Like most of us, I’m not made of money. I do, however, spend as much as I can to ensure my pups are getting quality nutrition. We don’t skimp on them. This food is a tad pricey, but in my opinion, it’s worth it. Customized food isn’t easy to come by!
- The Size – Now, I’m sure this doesn’t apply to many of you, but if you have a giant breed dog, you know exactly what I’m talking about. This kibble is small. Less than half the size of most large breed kibble. I’m 100% positive they could snort these pieces up their noses. So far, we haven’t had any issues with the kibble size, but I could see it causing problems for some dogs. I would recommend that pawTree increase the kibble size for the large dog formulas.
I am beyond thrilled with this food. I love that I was able to ‘create’ a formula that was specific to Mauja’s needs. Even better? Mauja loves it!
In case you were wondering, all of these photos are of Atka. Mauja refuses to model for me so she just gets to sit back and wait for the taste test
