It's Dog Or Nothing - fur, slobber, and dirty floors

With Nick being in the Air Force, there are a lot of unknowns in our life. Will we stay in one location for a year? For two years? Will we go overseas on our next assignment? Where will life take us? Will we be able to settle down? Will we be able to get more pets?

You just never know.

I’m learning to be very flexible.

Having flexibility in my life doesn’t mean that I can’t still have long term aspirations. Joining the blogging world has been the best decision I’ve made in a long time. Even though life is going to pull us in several directions and I’ll have to start over every two years when we move, this blog is my home base. I hope to use this constant to reach some of my goals.

I would love to start a rescue some day. Most likely it would center around Great Pyrenees or giant breeds in general. I am extremely passionate about Great Pyrenees and I feel I could use my knowledge to help the breed. There is such a huge pyr problem in southern states, especially Texas and Kentucky. I would love to be able to help the dogs in need.

I want to raise a service dog. I recently read the book, Let the Dogs Speak, and was completely moved to be a puppy raiser. It would be out of my comfort zone since I am a giant breed person, but it would be a fun challenge for me. Plus, it would be nice to have a dog that is eager to please!

I want to start my own company. I have a few ideas that I think could do really well and be beneficial to both humans and their pets.

I really like the idea of doing things for myself right now. Being a blogger gives you a lot of choices. I can choose to review a product or I can respectfully decline. I don’t want to write about things I’m not passionate about and having the ability to pick and choose my jobs is phenomenal.

I want to train pyrs to be therapy dogs and work with military members suffering from PTSD. Mental health is another topic that I am extremely interested in so it would be great to put the two passions together. Pyrs are wonderfully loyal and dedicated and they tend to make exceptional therapy dogs.

I would like to take a class from the Karen Pryor Academy. I think she is phenomenal and I can always learn something from her. Running my own puppy kindergarten class would be heaven! I know that if more people took the time to work with their dogs as puppies, there would be far fewer behavior problems in adult dogs.

Well, I think that’s it! For now. It seems like I’m always coming up with new things I want to accomplish! I went over the list with my husband to see if I was missing anything in my sleep-deprived state and he told me to add “be an awesome wife”. Apparently I’m not already! Sigh.

What are your aspirations? Have you achieved any of them already?
