Flea and Tick Control Can Be Exhausting

It's Dog Or Nothing - fur, slobber, and dirty floors

As the warm weather approaches, many of us are becoming more concerned about flea and tick control. We’re spending more time outside and the temperature is becoming a breeding ground for fleas. Ever since Mauja and Kaeto got fleas two years ago, I have been searching for a better method to keep Mauja and Atka flea free.

We had been using a big name topical treatment and it failed on us one month. I noticed Kaeto itching and found little bits of flea dirt on his fur. It took three months of baths, medication, and vacuuming several times a day to get rid of the fleas in the house. It was a disaster.

I really don’t like the idea of using chemicals on my dogs. I try and keep things as natural as possible for them. Plus, they absolutely hate the topical treatment. They roll around, make noises, and try to rub the treatment off on the carpet. We have to spend a few hours after applying the treatment to make sure they don’t rub it off. My search for a quality flea and tick deterrent was getting exhausting.

Enter Pet Naturals Flea + Tick.

I was given the wonderful opportunity to try out the Pet Naturals Flea + Tick wipes. I read through the ingredient list and was very impressed with what I saw.

  1. Lemongrass Oil – a tall perennial grass oil that is a natural pesticide
  2. Cinnamon Oil – an oil derived from the spice obtained from the inner bark of several trees that is used as a natural insect repellent
  3. Sesame Oil – an edible vegetable oil derived from sesame seeds that replenishes moisture to the skin and acts as a natural shield to unwanted pests
  4. Castor Oil – a vegetable oil obtained by pressing the seeds of the Castor plant that helps mask the scent of your dog’s skin and cost

Here is what Pet Naturals has to say about their Flea + Tick product:

For more than four decades, FoodScience® Corporation has been a leader in the research and

development of the highest quality animal and human health products. Pet Naturals® of Vermont,

a division of FSC, develops and produces only the purest, most reliable formulas to help pets live

healthier lives. Our company specializes in natural solutions to common health problems, that’s

our expertise, and unlike many other manufacturers, that’s our focus, that’s what we do. All of

our  supplements bear the NASC (National Animal Supplement Council) seal,

guaranteeing that our products meet the organizations guidelines for quality, integrity and truth

in labeling. All ingredients utilized in PetNaturals® products are of the highest quality and are

evaluated for purity and potency prior to use.

The product looked great on paper, but we had to test it out to be sure. We made sure their monthly, topical treatment had worn off, wiped the dogs with the flea and tick wipes, and headed out on a hike. Once we returned, we checked them thoroughly for ticks. It sure takes awhile with all that fur! We also continued to use the wipes over the next two weeks to see if any fleas showed up. I’m happy to report that we are still flea free here!

The second most important thing (after making sure they work, of course) was seeing how the dogs reacted to it. I grabbed the camera the first time we tried the wipes so I could catch Atka’s reaction.

I think it’s safe to say he didn’t mind them at all

Pet Naturals also has a spray version of the flea and tick deterrent. I am going to give that a try to see if it is easier to use on the long fur. I’m not sure if it would soak into the fur easier or if it would cause me to use more than I need. I’ll test it out and let you know what I think!

Now for the best part.

The first 100 people to go to the Pet Naturals site and sign up are going to receive a free 8 oz Flea + Tick Convenient Spray Bottle (worth $21.99). Along with your free product, you will also receive a coupon to try out the other products they provide! You really can’t go wrong with free products and coupons!
